Notice from HSE National Immunisation Office regarding Measles (B10)

By SchoolWise Host Admin on 15/01/2024

Dear Parent/Legal Guardian,

In recent months there has been a rise in cases of measles in parts of the UK and
Europe. On 7th February the HSE reported the death of an adult with confirmed
measles. This is the first confirmed measles case notified in Ireland in 2024.
We are asking parents to be measles aware and to make sure your children have
received their recommended MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccines.

Be measles aware

Measles can be unpleasant and is a potentially serious and highly infectious disease.
The symptoms of measles include:

  -high fever
  -cough

-runny nose
  -rash, which usually appears on head and neck first and spreads to rest of body

Serious complications of measles include pneumonia and encephalitis (swelling of the
brain). One in five infected may need to go to hospital and it can be fatal.

Junior Cycle Results 2023

By Andrew Flynn on 17/10/2023

Students who completed their Junior Cycle examinations in June 2023 will receive their Junior Cycle results on Wednesday October 18th. As this is an important occasion for these students, we wish to mark it in a manner which reflects this.

Students receiving results will gather in the school canteen from 1.45. They will then be presented their certificates by their 3rd Year, Year Head.

Current 5th Years who were in TY Last year will remain in class and classes will continue as normal.

Once results have been distributed students are free to leave school to join their families and friends to celebrate their results in a safe manner. We ask that students do not congregate around the school premises immediately after receiving their certificates as the normal school day is still in progress.

We wish all our students the very best on receiving their Junior Cycle results. The normal school day applies on Thursday October 19th and we look forward to seeing all students present on that day.

If any parents or students need support following the receipt of results, please contact at

info.adamstowncc@ddletb.ie

1st Year Continuous Assessment

By Andrew Flynn on 03/10/2023

H

Here in ACC, we use continuous assessment for our first report of the year.

Continuous assessment (C.A) allows students to demonstrate their learning over a longer period of time.

This year our fantastic staff have created a C.A booklet for the assessments our 1st years will complete. This booklet outlines how various subjects will be assessed this term. The booklet can be used to support 1st Year students to complete their assessment tasks and for 1st year parents to understand the variety of ways we celebrate learning in ACC.

To view our C.A Booklet, please click HERE

We have created a brief video of how C.A works in our school for all students and for 1st Years in particular. Please take a moment to view HERE.
